I've always love ghost stories, and in recent months have been reading a lot. You can beat an anthology of spooky tales and I'm almost through The Mammoth Book of Modern Ghost Stories (Mammoth) which I can highly recommend. Shorts stories are so well suited to the supernatural genre. The book is leaving me with an increased 'must read' list of authors, as if my bookcases are groaning enough under the weight of books to read.
I must admit I rather envy the Americans their take on Halloween'en. Even though our supermarkets are full of Halloween'en tat which I utterly adore, we Brits just don't do it on the same scale or even 'get it'. I hope come the end of the month the television will treat us to some good ghost tales and not just the slasher modern movies.
I did eventually get around to watching Ravenouswhich was good, though the really high point of the film for me was the score - Michael Nyman and Damon Albarn need to get together more often.
