It's not just cats who make their way to Sanctuary Hobbs. There seems to be some sort of homing beacon that brings all sorts of animals to my little corner of surburbia.
That said I have officially taken on some more cats (if you look closely you will see 'mug' on my forehead. I will get some photos soon so you can be taken under their spell too and realise why I caved in.
But back to the none felines. I was very pleased to see my resident Robin back today after a long absence. I have made the hawthron trees at the bottom of the garden a veritable bird buffet and along with Mr Robin today was visited by hedge sparrows, a bullfinch, some wood pigeons, some coal tits, a pair of blue tits and something I wasn't to sure of!
I blogged last year of my hedgehog visitor who got very fat and went off to hibernate at the end of October. Well since the end of November I've had another hedgehog visiting, I suspect a lot younger and not going to hibernate. I thought he was greedy coming twice a night until one evening I came out to see double. It seems the pair of them are living under the shed. Each night they come to the backdoor for their plate of cat food, usually at different times. They seem to be winteringg well, keeping their weight up and displaying normal behaviour. This website has been a great help and well worth visiting if you have a prickly visitor you want to do well by.
I would take photos of them but they are not as brave as last summer's visitor and I don't like to frighten them off their food especially in the current cold weather.
