We have a new spikey lodger - Prickle the hedgehog. He (not that I've sexed him/her) lives at the bottom of our garden and comes each evening and waits at the backdoor waiting for a plate of cat food. The look of 'where's my supper' is what has led me to believe he must be of the male persuasion...
He can polish off a plate of food quicker than any of the cats (who incidentally, aren't bothered about him) and makes far more noise when eating.
No wonder Beatrix Potter was so enamoured with them, hedgehogs are remarkably cute. Last night, not put off by the camera flash, Prickle looked up after licking the plate clean, looked straight at me and licked his lips. Then he turned around and waddled off to survey his territory and I swear I could hear him say 'see you tomorrow night'.
That's too cute!
I want a hedgehog now!

I wish we still had our hedgehogs.... They used to finish off the food the cats had left and then ask for more. We now have a couple of foxes that come and finish the food off and then use the bowls as toilets. Hedgehogs are so much more cute and cleaner!

He's helping keep the slug population down too!
