If You Spot My Inspiration, Please Post It Back

Firstly a Happy St Davids Day to you all especially my Taffy Down Under Miss M.

I continue to try and climb the mountain called Creative Ambition whilst wearing flip flops - well at least I'd be in the running for a prize for trying...

Here comes a bolt of good news to share. I have heard from the producers of the radio show I was able to get some sketches on as a runner up in the Sketch Factor Beeb comp, and the news is there will be a second series and.......I have been asked back as a commissioned writer! I will be in a group of 4 writers which they are calling the academy (eek), we'll have a script editor each and we'll be taking part in writers' meetings etc for the new show supporting a core writing team of 5 people who've really proved themselves this year.  In other words they seem not to want to give up on me yet and that is pretty amazing! We should be getting to work on series 2 in the summer so I will keep you posted but I want to try and cultivate and polish as many ideas as possible in the meantime!

I only entered the sketch factor competition last year to test myself - the test being to write a sketch and be brave enough to enter it - I never comtemplated it evolving any further! But I find a competition is a good way to focus, encourage and give you a deadline.

As some of you know I have a chick lit novel idea floating in my mind (along with a lot of other pollution) and I had a newsletter today to say Cosmo, Sphere and Waterstones have teamed up to launch a novel writing competition just for that very genre called Miss Write. So I think I will try the same tactic again and have a shot at it. If nothing else it gives me a date to aim for and whatever happens by then I may have something on paper to work with rather than words merely colliding in my head space. Hence a word counter has appeared to the left which is currently at, erm, 0. Well small steps!
