When I was 13 Mum decided my education needed broadening and this meant a field trip to my first outdoor concert, David Bowie at Sunderland,The Glass Spider Tour.
It just so happened the concert fell on a school day and I would have to be let out at lunch time for us to do the journey. So a little white lie later (well it is easy to get a hospital appointment and a Bowie concert confused on your calendar *cough*) and I was on my way.
It was a magical day and an education of a different kind. It set me up for a life long love of live music and a love of the theatrics of concerts. And there is no greater forum for people watching than a concert!
I remember my heart pounding as we entered the stadium. The start of the concert is on YouTube and on watching it again this afternoon the butterflies flew back into my stomach and I was 13 again for a moment, when the future was far away and the possibilities of life were endless and unconditional.
Yay Mum!

Amaazing! I was just too young to go to that one, although I made up for it by going to his Sound and Vision tour in 1990 - I harassed my parents for over 6 months to let me go and they finally relented!!!. Memories of that and Prince in 1992 are still etched on my mind and make me grin every time I think about it!
