I had a wonderful time at The Killers concert last night. They actually surpassed my expectations. The set was simple and they just performed at the highest level with no need of gimmicks or smoke and mirrors to distract from failings as there weren't any to hide. They were consumate and lead singer Brandon was more of a showman than I had expected.
The time flew by far too quickly (though this didn't apply to the support act who failed to win me over). One of the support act members seemed to have a serious helium addiction judging by his voice to the point it sounded like a piss take.
However back to The Killers, I've never enjoyed a concert so much in years and only wish I was going again tonight!
Random jottings about my evening:
- the group all have big feet
- I developed a lustful obsession for the guitarist David. *Sid James style* 'cooorrrrr'
- the crowd was an amazing cross section of the middle classes
- there was large number of older men dressed by Jeremy Clarkson in the audience
- I wanted to take the drummer home because he reminded me of Jason Lee in My Name Is Earl.
- Brandon Flowers never stopped to draw breath and is one of the fittest performers I have ever seen.
- I sat next to a lovely couple from Cornwall who'd driven over 3hrs to come to the concert.
- My hotel room had a view of a flat roof which had a discarded pair of blue y-fronts on it. Rock n Roll baby.
- In honour of Marj & Mitch, I stood fast and quietly sang-a-long - 'he doesn't look a thing like Robert Powell' (if you don't get why here's the old post explaining why)
- an annoying woman behind me kept shouting 'Brandon marry me' and 'take your trousers off'. Despite being a Mormon, I really doubt he'd take her up on the offer.
I took some mobile phone pics which are rubbish quality but are reminders of a great night!
Nice one :-) Tried to get tickets for them in Brixton last year (or was it the year before?) and they all sold out in about 5 mins...
Oh well..I'll just have to cope with Steely Dan in Hammersmith in the summer...;-)

I was at that concert and i can see my head in one of your shots as i was in front of you a bit haha.
I thought they were awesome and I now have an unhealthy obsession with Flowers who is now my idol. Yum.

I still laugh at that!
And when Robert Powell comes on Holby City.
And when...
